The University of Dayton Research Institute is a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers. Its professional engineers and scientists conduct research and provide support in a wide variety of technical areas, ensuring customer success by delivering affordable and innovative solutions, leading edge technologies and outstanding service. Its major research areas include advanced manufacturing, autonomous systems, energy and power, human technologies, hypersonics, materials, sensors, software, structures and systems, and sustainment. UDRI also contributes to the fulfilment of the University’s commitments to education, research and public service through the involvement of students, faculty and external partners. Established as the research arm of the University of Dayton in 1956, UDRI performed more than 90 percent of sponsored research at the University in fiscal year 2019, largely contributing to UD’s total research volume of $166 million.
