Fakultät Verkehrs- und Maschinensysteme,
Technische Universität Berlin

The Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Management (IWF) of Technische Universität Berlin forms together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (IPK) the Production Technology Centre Berlin (PTZ). R&D in this centre is focused on both fundamental research for processes in manufacturing engineering and applied industrial research. Major research topics in the department of Industrial Automation Technology (IAT, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Krüger) are image processing and pattern recognition as well as robotics and human-machine interaction.

Fachgebiet Telekommunikationsnetze,
Fakultät Elektrotechnik und Informatik,
Technische Universität Berlin

The Telecommunication Networks Group (TKN) conducts research in architectures and protocols for communication networks. The methodology of TKN's research is based on a mixture of analytical/simulative investigations, on one side, and experimental research, on the other. The experimental work is supported by large-scale in-house testbed facilities, like the TWIST (www.twist.tu-berlin.de) testbed, which are also made publicly available to remote users.

“Machinery System Design“ means complex working machines as a combination of different subsystems. Typical machines are: Tractors, Construction Machines, Material Handling and Conveying Systems. The main aim is the research and modelling of the technical interactions between the different subsystems. The results are useful for the modelling an d design of new complex working machines and their control systems. The work is concentrated on researching mobile working machinery, like tractors, agricultural and construction machines. The research work is based on application oriented testing plants where we can examine all system parameters under realistic conditions. They integrate the experiment results in simulation models of FEM- and MBS-Systems.

Fachgebiet Medizintechnik,
Institut für Maschinenkonstruktion und Systemtechnik,
Fakultät V - Verkehrs- und Maschinensysteme,
Technische Universität Berlin

The Chair of Medical Engineering offers courses of study that stand out because they cover the many exciting sides of medical engineering in unusual breadth. In research, the focus is on application-related topics with a mechanical-constructive background. The focus is on aids for rehabilitation, devices and systems for the reprocessing of medical devices and instruments for minimally invasive techniques.
