Nidec

Nidec was established by Shigenobu Nagamori and three fellow engineers in 1973. From the outset, the company focused on small precision motors—the subject of Nagamori's research during his time as a student. In 1979, Nidec became the first company in the world to successfully commercialize a direct drive spindle motor for HDDs based on a brushless DC motor. Since then, the company has grown into the world's number-one comprehensive motor manufacturer by expanding its lineup to include a wide variety of products ranging from small precision to ultra-large motors and peripheral equipment through actively engaging in mergers and acquisitions of companies with advanced technology.
