Safety over EtherCAT Conformance Test Specification

This specification defines the FSoE Conformance Test in which the conformance of the FSoE Device under Test with the FSoE Specification is tested. An FSoE Device Vendor is responsible to integrate the FSoE Test into its overall test plan and shall perform and pass this test for the FSoE Device Release.

The ETG.7100 series consists of following parts:

  • Part 1: General Requirements
    • Overall assessment and approval procedure
    • FSoE Conformance Test Tool and FSoE test cases description
  • Part 2: FSoE Conformance Test Record
    • A set of test instructions for the performance of the FSoE Conformance Test and documentation of it at the same time
    • Approved by TÜV SÜD Rail
    • Part 2-1: General part with device type definition
    • Part 2-2: SubInstance Test Record and informative execution guide
    • Part 2-3: MainInstance Test Record plus informative execution guide
  • Part 3: FSoE Test cases specification
    • Comprehensive test list for FSoE MainInstance and FSoE SubInstance

    • Approved by TÜV SÜD Rail

Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE) is the safety layer used for EtherCAT network devices. It is defined in IEC 61784-3 CPF12 and in ETG.5100.

Within the ETG.9100, the approval of conformance to the Safety over EtherCAT Specification is required. This shall be done with in-house tests and within an FSoE Test Center.
